Q: Why does my temperature not decrease when I close the draft vents?
A: Temperature on the Vision Grills Kamado is controlled by air flow between the top and bottom vent. The ceramic construction provides superior heat control allowing the ability to move from 200◦ and 700◦+ within minutes.
The ceramic construction of the Vision Grills Kamado delivers superior heat and moisture retention. Unlike metal charcoal grills, it is easier to get the Vision Grills Kamado hotter than to reduce the temperature. If you are planning on smoking or other “low and slow” techniques, it is recommended that you set the calibrated top and bottom draft vents to the desired temperature setting recommended in the owner’s manual once the charcoal has ignited. This will allow you to achieve the desired smoking temperature and the calibrated vents can be adjusted to raise the temperature as desired.
Should you experience challenges with controlling temperature, please contact Vision Grills Customer Service.
Q: How much charcoal do I need to achieve maximum temperature?
A: To achieve maximum temperature, the Vision Grills Kamado requires no more than a ¾ full fire bowl. Less than a ¾ full fire bowl will reduce the maximum temperature that can be achieved but will not reduce the burn time.
To achieve the best results, it is recommended to use Lump Charcoal which allows lighting ease, longer/hotter burning and can be reused.
WARNING DO NOT USE LIGHTER FLUID TO IGNITE CHARCOAL. Ceramic grills will absorb lighter fluids retaining the smell and flavor.
Vision Grills is continuing to design innovative accessories to enhance your grilling experience and are available at major retailers and can be seen at www.VisionGrills.com
